What grew, what didn't, and what the slugs ate this year

A small annual review from a north-facing back garden.

The tomatoes were a disappointment again, which is mostly the fault of the geography and partly the fault of the gardener. The beans more than made up for it.

I tried four varieties of basil and only one of them survived the first cold snap. I cannot remember which one. I will buy four again next year and find out.

Garlic in October, peas in March, basil in May, and patience the whole way through. The rest is weather.
